Drinking Water Purification Systems
Clean, Safe Water is
Available Now
Now that
Americans are beginning to figure out that they don't want to
drink lead, excessive chlorine, pesticides, or other
contaminants when they fill up their glass at the kitchen sink,
the popularity of drinking water purification systems is
growing, and for good reason, too.
We are becoming
more
health-conscious every day, and that is a good thing; remember, mom
always did say, "You are
what you eat," but she also should have told you that,
"You are what you drink" as well. If you are getting
healthier by eating organic vegetables and hormone-free
meat, doesn't it just make good sense to drink clear,
clean, pure water, too?
If you want to improve your
health as well as the taste of the water you drink, take a bath
in, and cook with, the best thing you can do may be to get a
water purification system. You and your family deserve to
enjoy contaminant-free water, and your body really craves
it.
There are numerous
filtration systems from which to
choose, and you
should do a little research before making your purchase.
When you start looking, you will probably be shocked to
discover that some units can cost several thousand
dollars. Those costly ones are usually the reverse
osmosis systems, and to be quite frank about it, you probably
really don't need one of those. Save your money; look for
something more reasonably priced.
However, it is probably
equally unwise to go all the way to the other end of the price
list, and just get the cheapest one you can find at a discount
store. It is possible to find water-filtering gadgets for
twenty-five or thirty bucks, but if you look closely you will
discover they are not usually of the highest
quality.
Furthermore, those systems either need to be
completely replaced rather frequently, or the filter itself
needs to be replaced every time you turn around. That makes
those seemingly inexpensive units costly to maintain, and your
water is probably not going to reach its optimum purity
level. Usually, they just filter out some of the chlorine
to make your water seem like its purified, but most of the
contaminants – including some of those that cause cancer – are
still in there when you put the glass to your lips.
Your best bet is to get a
little background information on the various options available
to you, and you should not base your entire decision on cost
alone. While researching the numerous
drinking water purification
systems, look
for one that gets rid of 99% of lead, filters out MTBE (a
gasoline additive that has been found in almost all water
supplies), is manufactured by a healthy, reliable
company, does not cost an unreasonable sum of money, and
is made of high-quality materials.
At the time of this writing,
there are only two
drinking water systems that remove MTBE, so quite
frankly, you probably want to choose one of those
two.
