If you are wondering how drugs get into our drinking water, the answer is simple but frightening.

People take medication and pharmaceuticals. These drugs pass through our bodies and enter the waste system. The public drinking water systems filter the water but unfortunately, do not remove all of the contaminants. The end result is contaminated drinking water.

During a recent study by an investigative team they found the following:

• In Philadelphia, officials discovered over 50 pharmaceuticals in treated drinking water
• In San Francisco, a sex hormone drug was found in the treated drinking water supply
