I forgot to mention, I assume readers know this, but more and more water is "toilet to tap." Meaning the phamaceuticals are from people's urine, it's not like someone dumped a bunch of pills into the groudwater. It's a true testament to the value of water conservation and taking in as few drugs as possible to survive.

I have read articles that state that water purifiers, which use carbon filtration, cannot remove pharmaceuticals from the water. The particles (atoms) of the pharmaceuticals are too small and pass straight through the carbon. At this time, there seems to be no safe way around it as bottled water is usually gathered at a municipal source, which is the same source that feeds to your tap. It makes me think twice about taking that Aspirin, because I know that someday it might end back up in my drinking water.
